    Event Description:
    Accountability and Connection Together (ACT) Northern Michigan in partnership with the Petoskey District Library present Government 101, a refresher lecture by Dr. Scott LaDeur, political science professor at North Central Michigan College. Dr. LaDeur will cover the division of power between state and federal government and between the branches of government in order to show how policy making occurs and the roles citizens can most effectively play in influencing the process.  Reception to follow.  Registration is requested.

    ACT Northern Michigan is an organization that encourages all citizens to ACT in ways that connect our community and make it stronger.

    Scott LaDeur holds a PhD in political science from Northern Illinois University focusing on American politics and international relations.  He has held teaching appointments at five institutions and is currently on the faculty of North Central Michigan College.  He serves on the Executive Board of the Michigan Political Science Association and is active in research on foreign policy making in the U.S. Congress.  He has taught courses on a wide variety of issues including terrorism, elections, political cinema and the rise of China. He and his wife live in Harbor Springs with their 3-year old son.

    The 2017 Juried Fine Arts Exhibition of 2D and relief work will be presented in the Ermy B. & Gordon B. Bonfield Gallery from October 21 through January 6. The 2017 Juried Fine Arts Exhibition is open to all Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Ontario residents, and to all members of Crooked Tree Arts Center regardless of residency. Applicants must be 18 years or older, working in 2D and relief (that can be exhibited on walls).  Awards will be announced at the opening on Saturday, October 21, between the hours of 2-4 p.m. Click for more information.

    The alumnae of the CTAC Artist in Residence Program in Good Hart will participate in the group exhibition Fresh AIR. The exhibit will include recent works by Amanda Boyd, Lindsey Dunnagan,
