Bay View Announces Chip Duncan as the Bridges: Crossing Cultural Divides Speaker
An Internationally Renowned Documentary Filmmaker
Petoskey— July 9, 2019 — Chip Duncan presents his talk, “Inspiring Change Through Cultural Diversity,” Thursday, July 18. Duncan is an internationally renowned documentary filmmaker and will share his international photographic journeys and the impact they’ve made on his life. Come and hear his inspiring message of how individuals can bring more compassion and understanding to the world.
Duncan’s recent work as a still photographer includes several journeys to Afghanistan as well as Sudan, Pakistan, Myanmar, Colombia, Ghana, Kenya, Haiti and numerous trips to Ethiopia and Peru.
“As a primary school kid growing up in Muskegon, I never imagined a world much bigger than the shores of Lake Michigan. But my great public school teachers helped me see a bigger and more diverse world. Over time, I found a way to photograph people, sacred sites, national parks, crisis zones, war zones, and slums in more than forty countries around the world. I never tire of making friends in faraway lands and using my camera to find the beauty in each of us. When I do my job right, the photographs from my journeys abroad can help each of us break down stereotypes and show the universal values associated with family, friendship, humor, kindness, and compassion,” explains Duncan.
The Duncan Group has built an international reputation for film and television production. The team engages in documentation of global conflict and crisis, dabbles in theater, and maintains one of the largest non-network film and photo archives in North America.
Duncan will speak at Voorhies Hall on July 18 at 8 p.m. ADMISSION IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Donations are welcome and are tax deductible.Inspiring Change Through Cultural Div...Date and Time
