Leadership Little Traverse Schedule
Requirements for Leadership Little Traverse include attendance at nine dynamic, interactive all-day sessions; participation in an ongoing mentorship program; and in a class-wide community service project. The exit requirement is the development of a personal leadership plan.

Session 1 - Building A Team
September 7-8, 2016
Evening picnic with an overnight stay followed by a day of active learning at Camp Daggett. Objective: Participants will be oriented to the LLT Program and their fellow classmates. They will then build the class as a team through 'challenge by choice' activities that strengthen trust and enhance personal growth.
Session 2 - Environment
October 13, 2016
Objective: To give participants an awareness of the environmental challenges of the area while strengthening the understanding of the link between our quality of life and economic stability. Participants will tour various environmental agencies and an area farm while learning the role they all play in maintaining our environmental balance.
Session 3 - The Past, The Present, The Future...And You!
November 10, 2016
Objective: To have a good understanding of the people, the resources, and the transportation that shaped our area. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of our communities today and develop a vision for their future. The class will also examine their individual strengths and the strengths of others.
Session 4 - Education
December 8, 2016
Objective: To explore the formal, informal, and non-traditional educational opportunities within our communities and understand the challenges and successes of our educational institutions. Participants will also sharpen their public presentation skills.
Session 5 - Human Services
January 12, 2017
Objective: Participants will have an increased sensitivity to the human needs in our communities and will know the array of human services available and how to access those services. The session will foster in each participant a deeper understanding of their leadership style and how to use leadership to create a more caring community.
Session 6 - Local Government
February 16, 2017
Objective: To explore the services, roles, limits of, and access to governments in our communities. Participants will interact with appointed and elected officials and see local governmental projects. They will participate in a public meeting and experience the judicial process.
Session 7 - Creativity & Ethics
March 9, 2017
Objective: In this two-part session, participants will understand how to utilize the creative process and the ethical decision-making process as important tools for leadership growth.
Session 8 - The Economy
April 13, 2017
Objective: To see first-hand a local, job-providing manufacturing facility and understand the impact of those jobs on our communities. Participants will know our top economic sectors and the agencies that lead the region's economic development efforts. They will also learn conflict-resolution skills in the context of the workplace.
Session 9 - Where Do We Go From Here?

Objective: Participants will plan and share their future leadership roles and personal growth strategies beyond Leadership Little Traverse.
