DESCRIPTION:Zonta Club of Petoskey and the Petoskey Chamber's Connecting Women in Business group will co-sponsor a luncheon on human trafficking.\n\n \n\nMeet four professionals within our community that are involved in the fight against this widespread problem and learn more about what is happening to help end this epidemic. \n\n \n\nThe presentation will discuss domestic human trafficking from the perspective of local/state law enforcement officer\, Corey Hebner. The presentation will also examine issues with lack of victim identification and services of human with Kim Van Hooser\, anti trafficking advocate and founder of Equip for Freedom. Kristen Terry\, Licensed Master Social Worker\, will round out the discussion bringing a voice to the individuals on the front lines rescuing victims from modern day slavery.\n\n \n\nModerated by Gail Kloss\, executive director\, Women's Resource Center of Northern Michigan.\n\n \n\nKim Van Hooser has worked directly with survivors of human trafficking and sexually exploited children since 2012. She has been a volunteer\, advocate\, trainer\, social worker and executive director in the field of human trafficking. She cofounded Ransomed Life\, a faith-based non-profit organization in the Central Texas area and Equip for Freedom in Petoskey\, Michigan\, a nonprofit organization that seeks to educate our community to identify and help victims of human trafficking in northern Michigan. \n\n\n\nKristen Terry\, LMSW owns a private counseling practice in downtown Petoskey.  She regularly travels to Washington DC to provide staff care\, consultation and debriefing services for nonprofits involved in the war against human sex trafficking and child exploitation.  \n\n \n\nCorey Hebner is a trooper with the Michigan State Police\, based in Gaylord\, Michigan.\n\n\n\nThe luncheon is at North Central Michigan College\, Iron Horse Cafe in Petoskey. The luncheon and presentation will begin at noon and end at 1 pm. Cost is $18 for Connecting Women in Business members and $25 for all others. Registration closes at 5pm on Friday\, April 20. Any cancellations after this time or no-shows the day of the event will be invoiced.\n\nWe need and have openings for luncheon sponsors. Be a lunch sponsor of this event for only $150. It includes one lunch admission\, plus a covered table for display so you can interact with the attendees during registration/networking time.  Sponsors also have the opportunity to put information on the tables. A sponsor can also offer a door prize.
