    Event Description:

    On Tuesday, June 27, Minde Parks from AXA Distributors will discuss several of the challenges that are unique to women: We live longer, We earn less and We spend fewer years in the workforce.  And how to help overcome these challenges. 
     
    According to a recent publication, 52% of the millionaires in the USA are women and yet 63% are unsure of how to adequately plan for retirement.  

    The luncheon is in the Iron Horse Cafe at North Central Michigan College. Registration and networking begin at 11:30 am. The luncheon and presentation will begin at noon and end at 1 pm. Cost is $17 for CWIB
    members or $22 for not-yet-members.

     

    The lunch will feature three different salads: Chicken Salad (freshly baked chicken breast with mayonnaise and dried cherries), Spinach Salad (pineapple, red onion, bacon, and a light vinaigrette), and Seafood Pasta Salad (pasta, crab, shrimp and a mayo based dill dressing.)  If you prefer a vegan or vegetarian option, you can select that when you register.

    We need and have openings for luncheon sponsors. Be a lunch sponsor of this event for only $150. It includes one lunch admission, plus a covered table for display so you can interact with the attendees during registration/networking time.  Sponsors also have the opportunity put information on the tables.   • Safe Home Harvest Food and Supply Drive Safe Home Harvest Food and Supply Drive

    Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan’s (WRCNM) Harvest Food and Supply Drive supports survivors and their children seeking refuge from domestic abuse at the Safe Home.  Last year, the Safe Home provided families 3,000 nights of shelter, 9,000 meals and all daily needs at no cost.  Donations of non-perishable foods, household supplies, personal care items, grocery gift cards and financial contributions help make the Safe Home feel like ‘home’ for many families utilizing these vital services. 
     
    Harvest Food and Supply Drive donation locations: WRCNM main office at 423 Porter Street, Petoskey; Gold Mine Resale Shops, Petoskey; and WRCNM offices in Cheboygan, Gaylord and Mancelona.  The Safe Home Needs List is online at www.wrcnm.org.  For more information, call (231) 347-1572

    The 2017 Juried Fine Arts Exhibition of 2D and relief work will be presented in the Ermy B. & Gordon B. Bonfield Gallery from October 21 through January 6. The 2017 Juried Fine Arts Exhibition is open to all Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Ontario residents, and to all members of Crooked Tree Arts Center regardless of residency. Applicants must be 18 years or older, working in 2D and relief (that can be exhibited on walls).  Awards will be announced at the opening on Saturday, October 21, between the hours of 2-4 p.m. Click for more information.
