Ice Breaker Speaker Series - Invasive Mussels and the Zequanox Project
Invasive Mussels and the Zequanox Project
A new biocontrol agent to manage nuisance invasive zebra and quagga mussels was recently put to the test in Emmet County's Round Lake. Zequanox, a dead soil bacterium (Pseudomonas flavescens), was applied in open water areas at the bottom of the lake. Funded through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, this research project was a large, collaborative effort between many state and local organizations. Join us as we discuss the project, preliminary results, and potential future work to help manage nuisance mussels.
