Waldron Fen Birding
Waldron Fen Nature Preserve near Alanson offers a delightful mixture of habitats supporting a wide diversity of birds species. This will be the peak of songbird migration through northern Michigan, so expect to see a wide array of species, possibly even rare species. Plan to spend approximately two hours hiking the trails while learning to identify birds by sight and sound. Darrell Lawson, current president of the PRAS, will lead the trip, help locate birds, and explain their behavior. Loaner binoculars are available. No charge, but pre-registration is requested by calling 231.347.0991 or online at wwww.landtrust.org
