High Five Spirits Against Line 5
On Friday, June 8th, High Five Spirits is hosting the High Five against Line 5 party! High Five Spirits is generously donating 25% of all proceeds to the Watershed Council to aid in our fight to decommission Enbridge's Line 5, which runs beneath the Straits of Mackinac. A new addition to downtown Petoskey, High Five Spirits has already established themselves as a fun space to gather with friends and enjoy locally crafted specialty drinks. Be sure to join us on Friday, June 8th to support local business owners and work towards our collective goal of decommissioning Line 5! Line 5 is a 645 mile petroleum pipeline owned and operated by Enbridge Energy, Limited Partnership. The line runs from Superior, Wisconsin, across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, through Northern Michigan, down to the thumb region, and over to Sarnia, Ontario. Line 5 is 30 inches in diameter, except when crossing the Straits of Mackinac, where it divides into two 20-inch diameter pipes. The line became operational in 1953 and carries up to 540,000 barrels or 22.7 million gallons of light crude oil, synthetic crude, and natural gas liquids per day.
