Shay Days 2019
Arguably one of the most important figures in the history of Harbor Springs, geared-locomotive inventor Ephraim Shay retired to the area in 1888. During his “retirement” he created over twelve miles of water mains to bring running water to the city, designed and built his unique Hexagon House and started the Hemlock Central logging railway. Join the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society to celebrate the ingenuity of Ephraim Shay during Shay Days 2019! This family-friendly, two-day event will take place Friday and Saturday, July 19 and 20, 2019. Shay Days events run between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm both days in Shay Park, at the Shay Hexagon House and at the Harbor Springs History Museum. Admission for Shay Days is by donation with all proceeds benefiting the Historical Society. Activities on both Friday and Saturday include kids crafts and games at the Shay Hexagon House, live model steam trains in Shay Park and self-guided tours of the historic Hexagon House. Bring the whole family and discover more about Ephraim Shay and how his creative genius helped to shape Harbor Springs.
