    Job Summary
    The Assistant Waterfront Manager is responsible for the overall operations of their assigned rental program, fuel dock, and public areas, as well as the care and management of our customers and staff

    Responsibilities

    Operations:

    • Oversee and initiate business growth and development through partnership relationships, customer attraction and retention, and value
    • Responsible for controlling and minimizing expenses
    • Take care of customers needs, ensure their experience is positive through attention to detail, communication, and finding ways to go above and beyond
    • Perform and oversee charges, reconciliations, through all waterfront processing systems
    • Oversee staff productivity, assign tasks to ensure staff remain busy and customers remain cared for
    • Communicate often and clearly with all partners such as the service department, additional waterfront locations, and other partners
    • Ensure the entire waterfront operation is tidy, organized, and presentable at all times. This includes the docks, common areas, rental desk, rental boats, pro shop area, etc.

    Staff:

    • Recommend and act upon hiring decisions, continually development of staff, and corrective actions
    • Thoroughly train and continually improve staff understanding and execution of set policies, procedures, and customer service expectations
    • Ability to train staff in a classroom-like setting, and one on one

    Fuel Dock:

    • Properly and safely fuel all boats that come to the gas dock through following SOP’s and policies
    • Perform and oversee all gas/rental charges through processing system
    • Order fuel through supplier through set procedures. Monitor fuel levels on a daily basis

    Public Docks and Private Slips:

    • Expected to ensure all boats coming in or out of the dock are tended to immediately to ensure customers get proper assistance at their departure/arrival
    • Maintain an accurate slip waitlist

    Boat Rentals:

    • Oversee customers pre and post rental processes, ensure all check out/in procedures, and boat orientation processes are followed
    • Oversee all incoming leads – via phone, email, walk up, text, and CRM. Ensure leads are responded to and followed up with promptly and per the set processes
    • Ability to demonstrate the proper use of all rental equipment and boats
    • Ensure boats are kept up with their preventative maintenance schedules
    • Oversee and manage all boat deliveries to other Northern Michigan lakes. Properly charge for deliveries
    • Oversee, assign, and assist with regular and thorough rental boat deep cleaning upon the return of every boat rental. Ensure boat rental cleanliness is up to Legacy’s standards.

    General:

    • Ability to safely trailer and launch different types and size rental boats, at different lakes
    • Responsible for delegating and assisting with the cleanliness of the marina, docks, and rental boats
    • Responsible for ensuring the entire waterfront operation is always presentable and organized
    • Communicate any customer’s needs, accidents, or other occurrences that require the manager’s knowledge/action
    • Attend local events and promote the operation
    • Uphold all laws, standards and regulations that apply to the businesses
    • Maintain a safe work environment through training, audits, and continuous improvements
    • Other tasks as requested by supervisor

    Qualifications

    • Communication: Able to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and company personnel, able to clearly and effectively communicate information both orally and in writing
    • Customer Service: Ability to serve our customers respectfully and efficiently. Understand that the customer is our priority, and serving them is what will make us successful
    • Humility: ability to honestly and openly communicate any mistakes or mishaps made and have the ability to learn from them.
    • Training: Able to understand company procedures and policies and train and continually improve waterfront staff on these company procedures and policies
    • Trailering: Where applicable, ability to safely and effectively trailer boats. Ability to properly launch boats at various different lakes and marinas
    • Schedule Flexibility: able to work assigned schedule, in addition to last minute needs as the operation requires; the Manager is responsible for ensuring staff is comfortable in their absence and customers are taken care of. There may be times when the Manager is on call, as the operation demands
    • Overtime: Able to work overtime in times of high demand, such as, but not limited to, July and August
    • Swimming: Ability to swim and tread water required
    • Running: Ability to run throughout the waterfront and marina, including on docks to ensure customers are attended to in time as they approach the dock, rental area, or any other area of the waterfront

    Qualifications:

    • Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel preferred
    • Background Check: pass a thorough background check required
    • Boaters License: valid boaters license preferred
    • CPR: certified for CPR preferred
    • Knowledge and experience of boats and watersports: preferred
    • Trailering: ability to properly trailer and launch wake boats and pontoons. Required
    • Swim: ability to swim and tread water. Required

    Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal

    Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

    Schedule:

    • 10 hour shift
    • 8 hour shift
    • Day shift
    • Evenings as needed
    • Evening shift
    • Holidays
    • Monday to Friday
    • Weekends as needed

    Ability to Relocate:
