    The Lead Dockhand is scheduled for shifts between the hours of 7a-10p

    Job Summary
    The Lead Dockhand is responsible for ensuring fuel, rental, waterfront operations and procedures are executed according to set processes and expectations.

    Duties

    • Operations:
    • Take care of customers needs, ensure their experience is positive through attention to detail, communication, and finding ways to go above and beyond
    • Understand and perform charges, reconciliations, through all waterfront processing systems
    • Act as the Manager on Duty when the Manager and/or Assistant Manager are not on site; responsible for keeping the operation moving, completing daily tasks, keeping staff busy, and customers satisfied
    • Communicate thoroughly with management, staff, and customers in writing, in person, and via phone communication
    • Train, assist, and oversee all staff on proper docking, fuel, and rental procedures
    • Oversee staff productivity, assign tasks to ensure staff remain busy and customers remain cared for. Cut staff shifts when necessary
    • Fuel Dock
    • Properly and safely fuel all boats that come to the gas dock through following SOP’s and policies
    • Perform accurate gas/rental charges through processing system
    • Oversee the fuel operations by monitoring the fuel clip boards, incoming and departing fuel customers, staff designated to the fuel dock, and ensure the fuel dock maintains efficiency
    • Public Docks:
    • Expected to quickly assist to all boats coming in or out of the dock/launch to ensure customers get proper assistance at their departure/arrival
    • Continually monitor shopper’s docks and private slips to ensure boats are tied properly, spun so the bow of every boat is facing toward the lake
    • Coordinate and re-assign/move staff accordingly to ensure high efficiency, that all boats are assisted, and all customers are greeted
    • Boat Rentals:
    • Assist customers pre and post rental processes, following all check out/in procedures, and boat orientation processes
    • Properly answer the telephone, take rental deposits, and accurately place customers on the rental calendar, following up with a confirmation email
    • Provide thorough boat rental orientations, answer customer questions, conduct drivers tests, and ensure customers are comfortable and safe prior to handing over the keys to the boat
    • Follow rental return processes, communicate any boat damages to management immediately
    • Oversee, assign, and assist with regular and thorough rental boat deep cleaning upon the return of every boat rental. Ensure boat rental cleanliness is up to Legacy’s standards
    • General:
    • As assigned by supervisor, ability to safely trailer and launch different types and size rental boats, at different lakes
    • Responsible for delegating and assisting with the cleanliness of the marina, docks, and rental boats
    • Responsible for ensuring the entire waterfront operation is always presentable and organized
    • Communicate to Rental Manager any customer’s needs, accidents, or other occurrences that require the manager’s knowledge/action
    • Expected to stay busy at ALL times during shift – consistently finding tasks to do
    • Honestly report all tips and place them into the tip pool at the end of each shift
    • Other duties as requested by supervisor

    Humility: ability to honestly and openly communicate any mistakes or mishaps made and have the ability to learn from them.

    Training: Able to understand company procedures and policies and train and continually improve waterfront staff on these company procedures and policies

    Trailering: Where applicable, ability to safely and effectively trailer boats. Ability to properly launch boats at various different lakes and marinas

    Schedule Flexibility: able to work at all Northern Michigan operations, with scheduled shifts customized based on location needs from week-week. Willingness to work 8-10 hour shifts and overtime when needed

    Swimming: Ability to swim and tread water required

    Ru
    nning: Ability to run throughout the waterfront and marina, including on docks to ensure customers are attended to in time as they approach the dock, rental area, or any other area of the waterfront

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
